Community, Care and Change

There is no single fix for this, because there is no single cause.
Silence Between Sirens works across three areas: Community, Care and Change. Each takes on a different part of the problem - the people around you, the support available, and the system you work in.
Community is the people around you. Making it normal to speak openly about how the job is affecting you, and building networks where people notice when something is not right and are unafraid to step in.
Care is the support available. Helping colleagues, friends and supervisors know how to respond, and feel confident doing so. Better signposting, practical tools, easier access when it is needed most. Where support does not exist, providing it.
Change is the system you work in. Working with leadership to recognise the impact of the work and take responsibility for it, so suicide prevention becomes part of how services operate rather than an afterthought.
The three hold together. Community without Care leaves people with nowhere to turn. Care without Change leaves the same conditions in place. Change without Community never reaches the people it is for.
This is where the work sits, and where we would value others joining it.
